Brooch Making Basics with Kelly McDonald
This event has already taken place
For the closing weekend of The Language of Things, we’ve asked local artist Kelly McDonald to run a workshop! Kelly and her assistant will show you how to use simple techniques such as hole drilling; wire wrapping and gluing to make a brooch.
What to Bring
A small personal token from home with special meaning to you or the person you’d like to gift your brooch to. Alternatively anything quirky you’d like to experiment with. Ideally objects will be smaller than your hand and durable enough to wear. Examples might include beads, china or small plastic items. There will also be a range of items available, as well as imitation gold leaf to jazz up your objects. There are no rules, and you’re in charge of your own designs!
Costs include fastening materials and the tools you need. We’ll provide light refreshments.
Places are limited so get in quick! Bookings can be made calling 04 570 6500 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Payments can be made via credit card over the phone, or in person.
This is your last opportunity to see The Language of Things! On the same day, check out this very special artist talk by Domestic Jewelry, a collective in the exhibition who have come all the way from Estonia!
