Māori and Pacific Artists Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

This event has already taken place

Help to increase the online coverage of our Māori and Pacific artists by editing and uploading entries on Wikipedia throughout Matariki. For those new to Wikipedia we will be running a crash course in how to sign up, edit and upload articles to Wikipedia. All levels of experience and knowledge are welcome. Resources will be available, please bring your laptop.

Training 10am-midday  Learn about how Wikipedia operates, the editing interface, easy ways to start adding information, and how we research and structure new articles.

Editing 12pm-4pm  Make your first edits with us here to help you, research new articles, or join us if you're already comfortable on Wikipedia to start improving articles.

It will help on the day if you:

Bring your own laptop and powercord (essential)

Create an account on Wikipedia *before you come* (go here, it's very simple)

Download Firefox if you're not already using it as a browser: sometimes our wifi has a few hiccups

Bring lunch and snacks if you'd like - we'll also have some available, as well as hot and cold drinks

You might also like to think about artists who you'd like to cover and even bring books or articles along. We will add info this this page shortly about artists who have pages on Wikipedia that could be enhanced and artists who don't yet have pages.
