Wunderrūma has recently opened in its third iteration at Auckland Art Gallery.
To celebrate, we sat down with three of the jewellers involved in the exhibition, Fran Carter, Frances Stachl, and Moniek Schrijer, to talk about the exhibition. They spoke to us about the process and feelings involved in being selected for Wunderrūma, how the exhibition developed over time, and how their lives have been impacted since being a part of the show.
Wunderrūma is curated by Warwick Freeman and Karl Fritsch, and features over 200 pieces from 75 contemporary New Zealand jewellers, as well as Māori taonga, and Pacific and European historical jewellery. The exhibition is presented and toured by The Dowse in partnership with the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, with support from Creative New Zealand. It can be seen at Auckland Art Gallery until the 1st of November.
