Karl Fritsch

Jeweller and Artist

Karl Fritsch is the winner of numerous international jewellery awards including the esteemed Françoise van den Bosch Award in 2006. He studied at the Goldschmiedeschule Pforzheim and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, München and grew up in the Allgäu region of Germany. He is the subject of many articles and publications as his work is consistently challenging and adventurous. Karl and his wife, the acclaimed jeweller Lisa Walker, live in Island Bay, Wellington with their two children where they continue their international jewellery practices. Both Karl and Lisa have works in The Dowse Collection. Karl chose this painting as one of his favourites in our collection because, he says, “This painting and the colours remind me a bit of home.”
