Peter Deckers: Studio Visit
Saturday 30 October, 1pm & 2.30pm
$5 | Book via Eventbrite
At Alert Level 2, this event has limited capacity to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed. Booking is essential.
Join jewellery artist Peter Deckers for a tour of his studio and home, a handcrafted labour of love built on the slopes of Akatarawa Forest, Upper Hutt, by Peter and his wife over two decades.
Peter Decker’s is one of the artists featured in SOLO 2021, a snapshot of contemporary art practice in Te Whanganui-a-Tara right here, right now. In SOLO, Peter Deckers morphs coastal stones and minerals with costume jewellery and discarded commercial items like computer hardware. Contrasting them side by side on rotating panels, the artist blurs the line between nature and artifice to question how value is perceived.
Don’t hesitate to book, as capacity will be strictly limited. Guests will need to provide their own transport to and from the address, and comply with masking and social distancing measures.
