The Dowse 50th
To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we threw a glittering party hosted by The Dowse and The Dowse Foundation.
Our 250 guests were guided through the evening by MC Tom Sainsbury, and treated to performances from the legendary Lisa Tomlins, Arohanui Strings Teen Ensemble, dancers from Whitirea, and lively Posties sending love letters between tables.
We were proud to unveil The Golden Huia, a major new series of artworks by leading Aotearoa photographer Fiona Pardington. Commissioned by The Dowse Foundation, the works are being gifted to The Dowse’s art collection for people to experience for generations to come.
Ngā mihi to our speakers for the evening – Lower Hutt Mayor Campbell Barry and Chair of The Dowse Foundation Rick Wells.
And a special thank you to everyone who celebrated with us on this spectacular night. Here’s to 50 more years of offbeat, fresh, unexpected, and remarkable art!
