Modern Revivals, which opened on Saturday and runs until 22 March 2015, brings together New Zealand furniture designers who draw inspiration from the sleek lines of modernist twentieth century design, while addressing twenty-first century concerns such as comfort, spatial and financial constraints, and the environment.

As Emma Fox Derwin of Well-Groomed-Fox says in the DomPost article published today,

"Modernism has often been equated with honesty in form and performance, or clarity. This is something that designers are attracted to because while we experiment and explore within our process, when it comes to the final product, nothing happens by accident or is left to chance. That's where there is clarity. We live in a time where throwaway culture is no longer acceptable. Everything the designer does must be conscious and considered in a plethora of contexts."
