3. Age of Fabric-A-Brac

Author: Sasha Greig, Front of House Team Leader

This week on the podcast we speak with Josie Brennan, the brains behind Fabric-A-Brac, a giant fabric and sewing equipement meet up event!

The Dowse hosted the first 70s themed Fabric A Brac as part of the opening weekend for The Age of Aquarius, a 70s fashion exhibition that came to The Dowse from the New Zealand Fashion Museum. Josie was at The Dowse on the day and took some time to speak with Sasha about how Fabric-A-Brac started, the charity and fundraising motivation behind it and being a part of the craft resurgence.

Fabric-A-Brac has a strong connection with Hospice, and every event is run as a fundraiser for a charity. The Fabric-A-Brac event held at The Dowse was fundraising for Te Omanga Hospice. Fabric A Brac events have raised over $20,000 for Hospice to date.
