Podcast: The Wikipedia Project

Author: Sasha Greig, Front of House Team Leader

The Dowse Art Museum has been immersing itself in Wikipedia over the summer, all in the name of increasing the profile of New Zealand craft artists!

Much has been written already about the Wikipedia project that The Dowse is undertaking. Courtney, Mackenzie and Bridget have been posting frequent blog posts about the progress of the project. With the first stage of the project coming to a close, we thought it was about time the two digital projects of The Dowse, the podcast and the Wikipedia project, met.

This week on the podcast we are talking to Courtney Johnston about what it has been like learning how to 'do' Wikipedia, how to make edits, and some of the surprising finer points of crowd sourcing information. She also lays the challenge down to any other institutions who may have something to contribute to the project.
