1. Welcome to The Dowse Podcast
The Dowse has a podcast!
For the past couple of months two of our staff members, Cat Auburn and Sasha Greig, have been working on a way to bring some of the stories from The Dowse to the masses in the form of a weekly podcast. The idea is to find a way to represent the arts in an interesting way that doesn’t alienate the general public. The podcast will feature interviews with Dowse staff, artists and other people involved with The Dowse Art Museum, as well as discussions about current trends in art and galleries/museums.
For the first episode (which we have lovingly titled Yo Yo Yo) we are taking an entertaining look at some of our favourite art stereotypes and tropes. We spoke to staff at The Dowse about the art stereotypes that annoy and entertain them, and why these stereotypes can actually get in the way of an art gallery experience.
